Arrears refers to payments that are overdue and that are to be paid at the end of a given period after missing out on the required payments.
What services am I paying?
The City provides for 4 services to properties namely, Water, Sewer, Refuse and Electricity.
Who can apply for an indigent/ rates rebate?
Debtors who are unemployed or who have a household income of less than R5,090.00 qualify for an indigent.
How can I get my title deed?
Beneficiaries can collect their unclaimed title deeds at their nearby Customer Care Centers (CCCs) alternatively, to get a deed search from an Attorney or the Department of Housing.
Why has my water/ electricity been disconnected?
When an account is in arrears, the City may instruct for the services to be disconnected.
How do I get my services reconnected again?
To get a reconnection, you need to settle the debt or make arrangements with the City and the debt collectors.
How can I get my statements sent monthly?
Statements are sent via post monthly alternatively, you can view statements on siyakhokha.ekurhuleni.gov.za
How to change ownership if the owner is deceased?
You need to get a letter of authority from the Court and/or Masters Office and thereafter, instruct a Conveyancer who will, inter alia, apply for clearances with the City on your behalf. Before ownership is changed, the account must have a zero balance.
